About Me

Hello! I’m a linguist, teacher, and scholar, and I welcome you to my website.

I received a B.A. in Psychology and French from Centenary College of Louisiana, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Linguistics from Purdue University. I’m currently working as Assistant Professor of English at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, AR, where I teach courses in composition, linguistics, and TESOL.

My main research focuses on the applications of World Englishes for composition and for empowering  non-native English-speaking teachers, the attitudes toward English in Poland, and the teaching of English and EFL written assessment in Poland. I have also examined the role of English in Polish hip hop and explored the linguistic innovations and language play in Internet memes.

Besides my academic interests, I am also an avid baker, runner, and cat mom.
